Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest Begins Survey

Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest Begins Survey

The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest (CNNF) recently began a national visitor use monitoring survey which is aimed at gathering information on the different types of forest visitors, activities the visitors are interested in and which areas of the forest receive the most use.

“Forest employees will be conducting surveys throughout the CNNF. Signs will be posted notifying visitors that a voluntary recreational use survey is in progress. Responses to the visitor-use survey are completely confidential. No names will be collected.

Survey interviews do not take long and will be conducted as visitors are leaving that area of the forest in which the survey is taking place. Information gathered is beneficial to managing recreation resources in a way that best meets visitor needs.

The CNNF survey is part of a nationwide effort that uses random sampling to develop estimates of visitor use, characteristics, satisfaction and spending relevant to each National Forest.

If you participate in a survey, be sure to point out the lack of motorized recreational trail opportunities in the CNNF. Your comments will help document a need for increased motorized recreational opportunities and will assist WORVPI in our efforts to establish a Motorized Recreation Area (Off-Road Park) in Northern Wisconsin.
